Fr. Julius Turyatoranwa
I come from Uganda in Africa, and am the 3rd born of 10 children. I am blessed to still have my parents and all my nine siblings. I have been a priest for 15 years (ordained in July 1998).
Before I came to the US, I worked as a parochial vicar for 2 years, then a pastor for 2.5 years. I went for further studies in Uganda (Makerere University and attained a Post Graduate Diploma in Education). I then served as a Vicar General of my diocese (Kabale) in Uganda for 4 years before coming to the US in December 2007.
In the US, I have worked at Epiphany Parish in Normal as a parochial vicar while attending school at Illinois State University (ISU) where I graduated with a Master of Science in Education in May 2010. In June 2010, I was moved to Holy Trinity Parish in Bloomington as a parochial vicar for 5 months, but I returned to Uganda in Nov. 2010 for 18 months. In May 2012, I returned and continued to work at Holy Trinity while at the same time doing a Doctorate in Educational Administration at ISU.
I arrived at Blessed Sacrament on September 4, 2013 as parochial vicar as well as continuing my education at ISU. As of June 11th, my assignment is now parochial vicar at St. Patrick and St. Monica Church as well as continuing my Education at ISU.
I am so happy to be here, and I look forward to learning a lot of things from you. I will also share my talents, faith and experience as we continue to interact. Let us all be part of this one big family and may each of us contribute in whatever way we can to sustain this Mystical Body of Christ. Bless you all.
Cecilia is an active parish member that quietly serves as parish secretary. She has held this position since 2000. She patiently answers many questions from parishioners and assists the pastor in more ways than space permits us to enumerate.
Laurie is Coordinator fo Religious Education (CRE) and will handle the day-to-day aspects of the Religious Education for the parish. Laurie’s office may be found in the parish hall. Laurie is one of many parishioners that work quietly in the background and without whom many parish functions would not get done.
